Bloviate - to speak at some length bombastically or rhetorically Etymology: For awhile now, I’ve wanted to get rid of scottjanz.com. However, I haven’t really come up with a good name to replace such a legendary name on the Internet. I mean after all, milllions of readers each day come to my web site waiting, and wanting my pithy comments on my outlook on life. Having said that bull shit, I’ve decided to get rid of scottjanz.com. It’s going by by.

I shall soon have another blog and shall bloviate about everything. My bloviate’s shall be bigger, better, with more exciting drama and foreign intriegue. I shall bloviate from the top of a mountain. OR, from my basement, whatever. Oh, yea, and shall install spell check. I’m not going away, but figured I would make some “resolutions” this year. Of course, I’ll have to pay for scottjanz.com (the domain name) for the rest of my life. Wouldn’t want it to turn into some porn site like the Peoriaplayers web site did once becuase they didn’t pay their domain name fee. More than likely I’ll keep my e-mail address, but who knows? Maybe I’ll get rid of that to.

Anyway stay tuned….

Every year I think of all kinds of resolutions that I keep until about January 7th. But this year, I am really going to try hard to keep all of them. So, to keep it simple for me, instead of putting together a big list, I decided to make a short list. Here are my New Year Resolutions.

1) Stop the INSANITY. Too much insanity in my life. So, I have decided as a New Year Resolution to really cut down on the insanity. That means letting go of at least 3 out of the 4 voices in my head. Two have been given their “pink slips” and one has taken the “early retirement” package. I”m keeping one for balance, but he doesn’t have much decision making power, thus I am safe. I think. Maybe. Not sure.

2) Cut down to just two cups of coffee a day. LOL Ok, not going to keep this one, just wanted to see what it looked like written down.

3) No more Gadget buying. I’m done. Finished. Do not go to Best Buy, do not even look in the window. I am not buying anymore gadgets. This however does not include the Apple Mac I need for…my business? OH for the love of pete let me have just one fricken gadget? Or as we gadget geeks say…”Electronic Device”.

4) Move Scottjanz.com to a better server because Yahoo still sucks after 3 years.

5) Sell crap in my house I just don’t use. i.e. old Electronic Devices I have bought at Best Buy.

6) Pass on the word of Peace, Love and Joy to all others on this Earth. OR, find the guy that pulled out in front of me today on War Memorial, and beat the pulp out of him. Number 6 is up for debate.

Ok, then.

Waves were really crashing into to the shore. Point Reyes National Park is really beautiful.

What can I say about 2008? It was a interesting year. We have seen history made in our Country by breaking the color barrier with the election of our first African American man to the Presidency. Of course, we have seen our Contry go down in History as our financial system comes to a screetching hault.

2008 will also be the year that Peoria (or the 1% that make decisions about development) made it clear to everyone just how desperate they are to build a Musem. Seriously? Are you really asking for a bailout for a Museum that you couldn’t raise the money for, that hasn’t been build yet, and that nobody wants? Seriously?

2008 was the year Billy Dennis changed his theme on Peoria Pundit. Oh sorry, that was 2007, I mean 2006, Crap, it was 2005, 04, 03, 1998, 96, 1988, No, Billy changed it in 1977 the year of the Disco Ball, and Pollyester. J/K my Pundit friend.

2008 was also the year that I mowed every day, until August. I now hate mowing lawns and I curse grass. That includes smoking it.

2008 was the year of Starbucks and the love affair that blossomed into an obession. I love Starbucks and if anyone takes my Starbucks away from me, I shall cut them.

2008 was the year I climbed a Mountain (14,300 ft) and conqured my fear of, of, Ok, not sure what I conqured climbing Longs Peak, but I’m sure I am better for it. Well, in some mystical way I don’t really know of yet. Or maybe I’m not better for it. Who the F@%#!n knows? And who really cares?

2008 was the year of Sara Palin. We now know that if you are a working woman, raising a family, dresses nice, and believes in God. You will be destroyed. However, if you are a working woman, raised a man like child, wears a pants suit, and believes in whatever the polls tell you to believe in, you will be highly rewarded. Ok then.

2008 was the year Cracka (my cat) learned how to sit up and beg for a treat. (I know, I have issues)

2008 was the year I found out just how many issues I have.

2008 was the year I got into a blog brawl with The Great Escape. (I still think I was right, although, maybe I might have been wrong) shhhh!

2008 was the year I put into practice the “George Kastanza” Theory. It’s so working…so far.

2008 was the year I totally got lost in the Sycamore Wilderness Canyon in Arizona, and saw my life flash before my eyes…Not really, but I was lost. I summoned the ghost of Les Stroud, and he led me out…Not really, but I did sleep in a creek bed with Wolves…Not really.

2008 was the year the “Walmart Deli Lady” Post caused controversy. I had to publically apoligize to the Walmart Deli Lady Union for insensitive comments that were totally out of line from which that I believe….Not really.

2008 was the year Scott stopped drinking. It’s amazing how differently I look at things without the compulsion to belly up to the bar. If I have done anything right, it was that.

2008 was the best year cause of the way it’s going to end. San Francisco. Gonna hike at Point Reyes National Park, watch the New Years Eve fireworks from the Warf, and eat at the Stinking Rose. On New Years Day, going to ride the trolly and sing “A San Francisco Treat”. All with a spectacular girl who is just awesome. 2009 is looking very nice.

Happy New Year.

We have been in some ice storms before here in the barren waste land called Peoria. But never do I remember the ice on the trees for so long. My yard looks like some kind of tree graveyard, snap limbs everywhere. Of course, the huge limb hanging over my roof is keeping me awake at night as I hear it crunching, and sliding along my roof.

Yesterday as I was driving Peoria really did look like a barren waste land. Yea, I know I have made jokes about Peoria before being a barren waste land, but really! Do we have to look the part now?

Anywhoo, my trees need 911 emergency service. It’s not the ice anymore killing them, it’s gravity. All that weight can’t be good for trees. I know trees don’t have anything to do except hang around, but C’MON! If you want to hear some really scary noises, just come on over, I feel like I’m living in a haunted house. My trees are desperatly trying to get into my upstairs window.

Please help my trees live.
