So, You Think Killing Bambi Would Be Funny?

Irony:

the use of words to express something other than and especially the opposite of the literal meaning b: a usually humorous or sardonic literary style or form characterized by irony.

So I’m hiking on Saturday at the Sand Ridge State Forest in Manito. Hiking and enjoying the late evening. When all of a sudden I come across and large noice and large visual in the woods beyond me. My first thought (since this park is popular for Horseback riding) was it was a Horseback Rider. At the same time, I see what looks like a big rabbit laying in the middle of the trail. It was niether a Horse nor a Rabbit. It was a baby dear. Couldn’t be more than a few weeks old just sitting on the trail. It looked as if it was dead or hurt. It made no sound, and didn’t try to run. It just laid there and looked at me. The baby dear was alive. It was breathing, and moving it’s head, just gauking at me. It was right then I knew it was the Universe mocking me. The Universe playing a sick and evil joke on me after blogging about dear eating my Hostas. It was also right then and there when I knew I stood face to face….with Bambi.

Bambi Sets a Trap

Yes, Bambi laid there right in front of me only to say “Ok Hiking Boy, whatch gonna do now?”. I took a quick picture of Bambi with a sudden revelation. IT WAS A TRAP. Bambi’s Mom was cleverly camofloged in the woods pateintly waiting for me to turn my back. Yea, can you say “When animals attack”? Oh, it was clever. What idiot wouldn’t stop take take a picture of a baby dear in the middle of a hiking trail?

I have to admit, seeing the baby dear just laying there did make me think twice about putting my thoughts “out there” for the Universe to use. The Universe has a perverse sense of humor, and mocks me on a consistant basis. However, I never thought it would throw the “kill Bambi” blog in my face. I mean, C’MON! Bambi for crap sake? Did I really need to see a baby (perhaps dying) dear out on the trail?

The Universe plays dirty my friends. The Universe plays dirty.
