The Hindu Canyon
May 22nd, 2008
Because of popular demand on Peoria.com forums, and the post I wrote about the “hidden trails of Peoria”. I decided to post a few comments and pics to arouse curiosity. No, not really. Just thought it was cool.
So a friend tells me about these trails off of Farmington Rd, by some Hindu Temple. Ok, So I go and check them out. They were RIGHT! And…there is a cool (but small) little crevas, or what I like to call Canyon.
According to JW the place is called “Rocky Glen Park”. But it is on Private Property. However, it looks as if it has been a Bradley hang out for years, and years. There are a number of trails to hike, but I’m NOT supporting, nor do I suggest going back there without express permission from the people that own the trails. Which looks like it would be the managment of the Hindu Temple. I asked permission to park and hike, and they said ok. The Crevas is not easy to find. However, for $25.00 a person, I will give you a tour, and call it, “The Hindu Lost Trails of Peoria Tour”. I will become rich and famous. OR, as the Drunk guy caring a cooler of Miller Lite that I actually met on the trail who gave me directions said, “it’s the second trail on the right”. “Becareful of the cliffs”. One could only imagine how why he mentioned “becareful of the cliffs”. As if he may have had a bad drunken experience out there.
