Troy Parker - Justice?
April 22nd, 2008
Today is a sad day for justice. However, this is a sad story for everyone involved. Two years ago I posted on this story. It was very controversial and generated a heated debate.
Not going to go there this time. You can read the story here, and comment on the Journal Star Web Site. I believe it is no coincedence that Mr. Parker resigned from the Peoria Police Department 3 days before the charges were dropped by the States Attorney’s Office.
The unscheduled hearing lasted only a few minutes, but when it was finished, Troy Parker, 37, had all charges against him, which included three counts of reckless homicide and four counts of aggravated operating a watercraft under the influence of alcohol, dismissed.
You’ll notice it was an unscheduled hearing. Well, all I can say is, this is Peoria. I have grown to like this town since I moved here in 98, but because of corruption and endless debunked development deals, I will never “love” this town. Mr. Parker should have done jail time. But what do I know? Mr Parker killed a person and crippled another and He is a free man now. I think the States Attorney’s Office was very weak in this matter. Justice? I know he has to live with this the rest of his life. Maybe that is justice, not sure. I feel bad for them all.
