So, I was right

I know my brilliance in Politics and Seinfeld Philosophy blows my readers away. However, I knew last weeks article about the PHA “boasting” about crime stats were a little skeptical at best. Kudos to the Journal Star for doing a follow up article today, and getting a different point of view.
Some residents attribute numbers to empty homes
The PJ Star writes today: “Some residents say the police have become more vigilant - they’re around more often enforcing the rules - while others say the troublesome residents are just no longer living in their neighborhood.” Isn’t this what I said?
“We relocated a lot of people at Harrison, but it was more of a shift than a reduction,” said Peoria police Lt. Tom Larson
The Article goes on to say:
“The PHA has seen a drop in occupancy from 730 in 2006 to 660 in 2007. Harrison has been closed to leasers for the past seven months, with hundreds of units emptied and poised for demolition.
The vacancy is most notable at Harrison, as is the 30.2 percent fall in crime. However, a breakdown provided by the PHA shows crime totals almost consistently fell at Taft and RiverWest, as well.”….read the rest of the story
