The 12 Days of Walmart
December 21st, 2007
Procrastination is just not a word for me, it’s how I do my Christmas shopping. Call it a tradition if you want, but I tend to know exactly what to get people for Christmas therefore I wait til the last minute. Walmart is the King of last minute places to shop.
So when go shopping at Walmart, I buy into the “low prices, great customer service” crap that they advertise on TV. It’s suppose to be quick, easy, and fun to shop there. Where everyone that works there has a friendly smile, and all is well in the world. It’s where you are greeted buy the old guy handing you a normally wet shopping cart with a bad wheel. ( I tend not to make eye contact) Ummm Ok, there is a difference in expectations depending on which Walmart I shop at. The one on Allen Rd, high expectations, the one on University, low expectations. Having said that, I have a small christmas wish.
Is there anyway we can make sure all the damn bar code tags are on the items we buy? Yea, here lies the biggest problem. The whole system breaks down at the register, (especially when you have been standing in line since 1994) when the bar code is MISSING. The nice lady at the register has a look on her face like her best friend has just died, I have a look on my face like, “guess I’m going to late”. The whole world as we know it stops, there is no world peace, acarchy, riots break out, and at that moment I understand why people snap. Can’t they have some sort of backup plan?
My other Christmas wish is that they fix the damn “automatic checkout machine”. Why do they have it? Do they even know? Is there a purpose? (that was my Smith impression from the Matrix) Are they always broke to screw with me? Why don’t they work? I want to know when I’m standing in a line from hell and I happen to have all my bar code tags. Actually they never really work when ther’re working anyway. I think a few of them have actually sassed me before. I may have been on meds though, so not sure.
Merry Christmas Walmart Shoppers, Merry Christmas.
