Halloween masks too scary for banks
October 31st, 2007
When I read this story in the Journal Star I thought it was a joke. But alas, it is not. We now have to put signs up to let people know they must have common sense.
“For the safety of our customers and employees please remove Halloween masks before entering the bank,” read the notice placed on front doors of area Commerce Bank branches. “We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation. Happy Halloween.”
Does this remind anyone off the McDonalds Coffee statement “Coffee maybe hot”. Really? Hot Coffee? Am I wrong? Or the simple fact that someone would walk into a bank, with a mask on, be considered “asking for it”, especially if Mr. Security Gaurd started firing. That’s like the guy who left his car running in Campus Town who’s car got stolen when he left it to run into the store? Do we need a sign in Campus Town now? I mean I can see how little children might walk into a bank or with their Casper the Friendly Ghost costume on, but I doubt that is what we are talking about here. Don’t adults know that walking into a bank with a mask on wouldn’t be the smartest thing to do? Do we need a sign? Are we becomming dumber or something?
Just like the girl who walked into the airport recenlty with a computer motherboard strapped onto her shirt with battery operated lights blinking. Yea, NOT A SMART DECISION. She’s still getting a body cavity search done. So are we to assume the airport now puts out a sign saying:
“For the safety of our customers and employees please remove any bomb looking devices before entering the airport,” read the notice placed on front doors of area airports. “We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation. Happy Traveling.” Geez. Maybe Commerce should also include. “No firearms either”.
