Drunken Deck Man is Baaaack
July 2nd, 2007
Last year I wrote about an idiot who apparently tried posing as a skilled carpenter when in reality he was nothing but a drunk con man. Well, Mr. Tim Schierer has struck again. This weekend I recieved an e-mail from a guy we will call “Bob”. Bob suggested I call him for a “Tim Schierer” story. When I called Bob, he was none to happy. Bob explained to me the same problems I had with Mr. Schierer. He never showed up, wanted half down, bragged how good he was, and came to the job site drunk. Then, (as Mr. Schierer did with me) started pouring footings half ass, and didn’t meet code at all.
Bob got took for $4,600 before he fired Tim, and called another Contractor. I got taken for $800.00. Bob also had to tear down everything that Tim had done because NONE of it met code. Tim also had brought in another “specialist” to tear the old deck down, and now this other guy is demanding payment from Bob seperate from what Tim had already bid. Think the story is bad? No, it get’s worse.
Tim Schier is now calling Bob at all times of the night threatening Bob. Of course Tim is drunk when he calls, but still Tim is threatening harm to Bob if he doesn’t pay. Tim threatened to take Bob to court, and presented an Attorney who was representing Tim. When Bob’s wife called the Attorney, the Attorney disavowed Tim, and said he doesn’t represent Tim at all.
Tim Schierer is a con man, nothing less. (In my opinion) Much like Michale Gray. If anybody knows how to expose this guy for who he really is, or has had dealings with him, contact me.
This guy is in the yellow pages so becareful when looking for reliable contractors. This guy is a CON MAN in my opinion.

Sadly, I too am familiar w/ Mr. Tim Shyster (as he’s know around our house). He hasn’t cost us a dime, though, as we had the good fortune to know ahead of time about his reputation as a drunken fool as well as that of a half-assed contractor. Sorry to hear you didn’t get off that easily. What can you do to keep this from happening to someone else? Try not to laugh too hard, but can the city do anything about him? It’s one thing to do a less than stellar job; it’s quite another to have your permits in order and have some gin-soaked goon build you some crap and then take your money with absolutely no consequences. I think he should be your next project. Get ‘im.

Hmmm..,. you’re giving me good reasons not to have any work done on our house. Being completely ignorant on remodeling I wouldn’t be able to tell if the work was well done or not….
Off topic, but how’s the Alli working out for you?

Jennifer,
Make sure they have a license first. Also, check references, you are letting these people into your homes. Call the BBB (Better Business Beaurau), ask if anyone has ever complained about the company.
References, references, and references.
Off the Alli.

Once you know the mannerisms, it’s so easy to spot a con man. I am always amazed at how few people pick up on them. With identity theft alone going through the roof (nearly 10,000,000 recorded cases last year), you’d think more people would be interested–to protect themselves.
