Get Well Soon Mr. Manning

City Councilman Bob Manning is recovering today after undergoing surgery Monday to repair three broken bones around his right eye socket.
This was a sensless crime, and I can only hope the perp who is now behind bars gets the full exetent of the law thrown at him. Mr. Manning (In my opinion), who represents the East Bluff, is doing everything he can to help that community to become a safer place to live. So he gets blind sided for helping a young girl who collided with his car. Apparently, he was punched in the face by a black man shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday - not long after the Manning’s Toyota Camry and a 10-year-old girl riding a bicycle collided in the 600 block of Thrush Avenue….the rest of the story
Mr. Manning is all to aware of the problems the City has in the East Bluff. However, this crime should not reflect on the nieghborhood as a whole. There are some great people the still are holding on and will not move.
“He sounded as well as one would. Bob is otherwise a very healthy young guy,” Van Auken said.
Accidents happen all the time. However, Mr. Manning was responsible enough to get out of his vehicle to assist the little girl (who seems to be doing fine now), and be a good citizen. To get blind sided and punched by a person who has no relationship to the girl is just stupid. I’m glad they found this creep and he is now behind bars.
I wish Bob Manning and his family all the best.

I am told that some in the neighborhood are spreading the story that:
Manning was drunk
He never stopped and Little had to chase him down.

If you read the comment section on the Journal Star’s site the Aunt of the girl is on there complaining that there isn’t more of a fuss about her and implying there is more to the story. She said no one is interested in their side of the story so I am sure it probably falls in line with the bullshit rumors.
Bob Manning has been nothing but helpful to the East Bluff and this is the thanks he gets. Bob is the best and I really hope this does not discourage him from further service. We all hope he has a speedy recovery and that that ass clown Little gets exactly what is coming to him!
