Drunken Deck Man
May 26th, 2006
How simple I thought it was to hire a Carpenter in Peoria, and to build a simple deck.
Well, several Contractors later….
I finally hired this guy who said, “I am a structural engineer”, to assist me in building my deck. He said he had over 12 years experience. Today he was fired for what I can only call a drunken attempt to build an unlevel deck. NO, seriously, he has shown up twice plastered. I gave him a check last Sunday for half, and he has worked a total of 5 hours since then.
I guess I am reaching the bottom of Peoria’s barrel to find someone competent.
Doerr Siding and Window: Never showed up ( and it was Steve Doerr that blew us off) I actually called and said I would order 2 patio doors from him, and he never called back. But yet according to him, “Hey, this job is no problem”. Never showed, never called.
Peoria Patio and Decks: Never called back. Left his tape measure here also. So apparently he just eye balls it now.
Larry May (Professional Caprenter): Never called to submit the bid after measuring and saying “no problem”.
And…for the love of pete, don’t call Steve Schierer unless you are having a Keg Party and actually want your deck to be built in a drunken stupor. Oh, and count how many times he say’s “Trust me, I know what I’m doing”.
Not sure why hiring Contractors in Peoria it such a problem. I really could go on and on about it, since I am in the business of rehabbing property and use many of them. However, I will say this, watching a man trying to use a level when he can’t walk straight, was pretty funny.
