Another Rehab Project
May 19th, 2006
The East Bluff has taken it’s share of hits as of late. With the Gaurdian Angels now protrolling the area, and with the East Bluff Neighborhood Association really trying to save it’s neighborhood, we thought this might be the right time to rehab a troubled property.
724-726 E Illinois is our next project. This property is a duplex, and it really needs some TLC. Badly damaged sofits, plaster, floors, this property has some history of bad tenants, and police calls. Those days are over.
I spoke with Jim Combs who is heading up East Bluff Serenity, an attempt to keep the streets clean of debris and litter. I told him this property would no longer be an eye sore, nor will it be a bekoning to police cars.
This property was bought for several reasons, but it’s locale to the Hospital and Historic Glen Oak was one of them. I feel you can’t “run a way” from problem propertiies. How do we expect our neighborhoods to turn around if we don’t invest capitol and attempt to get hard working Peorians to live in them.
This property has beautiful hard wood floors, and tons of potential. We will be gutting the kitchens, bathrooms, repairing plaster, and installing security lights around the property. (In other words lighting it up like a Christmas tree) We will also be installing steel doors, and new carpet. And of course the traditional fresh paint.
If anybody out there would like to drive by in the next few weeks to see what we are doing, you are more than welcome.
