Don’t Give Up

April 19th, 2006

“LaVetta Ricca has spent nearly all her life working to make her little section of South Peoria a more pleasant place to live”….more

This is a good story and one that should get more attention. People can make a difference even when it looks as if nobody cares, or notices.

“Ricca, president of the Olde Town South Neighborhood Association, keeps plugging away even though the naysayers, the litterers, the gangbangers and community apathy all seem to grow by the year.

But on Monday, the 68-year-old almost gave up”

You should read this story, she is a local hero and should be thanked fully for what she is doing.

Next time you are driving down the 200 block of south Western Avenue, and you see LaVetta Rica on that vacant lot that is hosting an American flag, a bright new welcome sign, closely trimmed grass and flowers. Stop and shout, “DONT GIVE UP LaVetta!!!!! I am quite sure that will make her day.
