Drug dealer’s ‘horrific’ childhood softens judge

March 25th, 2006

Well, here we go again. A drug dealers plea to a Federal Judge Joe B. McDade convinces the Judge to soften sentence. The Peoria Journal Star writes:

“In December, Watts pleaded guilty to possession of crack with intent to distribute.”

“Darrell D. Watts, 21, of 2700 W. Malone St., had faced at least 10 years behind bars according to federal law, but U.S. District Judge Joe B. McDade opted for the lesser sentence after hearing testimony regarding Watts’ “horrific” childhood.

So what!! What defines “horrific”. How many people in this world have had a “horrific” childhood? Lot’s of them. Does that mean we go out and sell Drugs? Does that mean we have a right to break the law because Mommy and Daddy didn’t have a white picket fence for us to live in?

This reminds me of the Judge Cashman of Vermont who Cashman sentenced a child molester to just 60 days of jail time. He thought he needed better treatment for his problem. Sheesh!!!

I am outraged that these Judges find it upon themselves to disregard the inherit problem of neighborhood saftey, and childhood saftey. This guy was selling drugs to god knows how many and to whom. That fact he had a rough childhood does not excuse him to violate others to benifit himself.

The story goes on to say: “he was forced, at age 14, to take care of his four siblings because he was the oldest. The relative also told McDade that Watts spent much of his time before his arrest last fall taking care of his grandmother who has several health problems”.

Hey, I take of my Mom who has Parkinson’s and my Dad left us early in my childhood, maybe I should go out and by myself a Crack House, sell crack in your neighborhhood. Of course when I get arrested I can only hope I get Judge McBride to feel sorry for me.

Do I sound like Bill O’Reilly? Hope not, but this erks me.
